I was born in Washington D.C. in 1957, but grew up in the beautiful country
of Guatemala, Central America. My family is, and has been for generations,
filled with artists of every discipline (My mother was a photographer,
as is one of my sisters and my brother. My other sister is a well-known
painter and installation artist in Guatemala), so it seems quite natural to me
that I should feel such passion toward the arts.

I have been involved in photography since I was about 12 years old, when my
mother gave me my first 'real' camera - a little Canon rangefinder, and have
been obsessed with this art-form ever since!

"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.
When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence."

~Ansel Adams

(Artist's Statement)

Photography is, to me, equal parts impression and expression. The mood of a scene
and the feelings elicited in me by it are what draw me to capture it - the resulting
image becoming my expression. My subjects are drawn mostly from nature, but it is
the mood created by any subject that I most enjoy conveying.

I believe in finding beauty in the mundane... If the eyes are the windows to the soul,
then the lens through which they see gives the soul expression...

I have loved and been involved in photography for over 35 years, since
my photographer mother gave me my first 35mm rangefinder camera.
I enjoy many different styles, and shoot with digital, 35mm film,
medium format film, 'toy' cameras and even home-made experimental cameras.

I truly hope that you enjoy browsing through my images - my 'expressions',
and that you find in them a bit of the joy I experienced when creating them!
